The colour of the sky is such a random thing. You can never really predict how it's going to look or how indeed the camera will capture it.
Luckily this time, the sky took on this wonderful lavender and pink tone to it.
This was at the very end of a photowalk around south east London with Mike Murphy and John Esslinger. Myself and John had wandered down the hill away from most of the other photographers to get a slightly different perspective.
Despite the cold, we stuck around for the rapidly setting sun and were rewarded with a bright, dying sun and a moderately cloudy sky; perfect for a sunset photo. All this with the added backdrop of Canary Wharf and The City.

Great colours which add a real warmth to the image. I made a few trips around here early this year so can't remember if this was the one where it was cold, or if it was the one where it was really really cold.
